The Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Phoenix Suns 116-104 in a game at Target Center, marking the team's 7-4 record without their star, Anthony Edwards, who is sidelined due to right knee inflammation. The win could help the Wolves gain some distance in the standings between them and the Phoenix Phoenix Suns, who entered the game two games back of them for a guaranteed playoff spot as the No. 6 seed. Despite being without Edwards for a week or two, the Wolves showed they have enough firepower to keep afloat. Much of the Wolves' offense ran through Julius Randle, who scored 32 points in the game. Bones Hyland, who often benefits from Edwards' absence, helped the Wolves shake off a bad first quarter with an 11-point scoring binge. Naz Reid, who has been playing through an injured shoulder, picked up another injury in the second quarter, returned in the third. The Wolves' defense improved, allowing just 24 points while limiting the Suns to 36% shooting.
