As Trump keeps Texas guessing, neither Cornyn nor Paxton backs down from Republican Senate runoff

President Donald Trump has stated he plans to endorse one of the candidates in the Republican Senate runoff in Texas, but it has been two weeks since he promised to back a candidate and urged the one without his support to drop out of the race. This is the last opportunity for either Sen. John Cornyn or state Attorney General Ken Paxton to withdraw from the ballot and avoid further campaigning. An ad by Cornyn's campaign highlights allegations that Paxton had an affair and his impeachment by Texas’ Republican-controlled House, which was later cleared and denied corruption accusations. Meanwhile, a pro-Paxton super PAC has also attempted to catch Trump's attention by airing an ad in the West Palm Beach, Florida, market.
