The number of visits to the San Antonio Missions increased sharply in 2025, reaching a decade-high figure of over 1.5 million visits, up more than 21% from 2024. This increase came during the Trump administration's purge of federal employees, which included hundreds of national park workers. The Missions, the only UNESCO World Heritage Site in Texas, generated about $171 million for the SanAntanese economy in 2025. The increase in visitors could increase foot traffic for businesses and stimulate increased tourism for the city. Meanwhile, Big Bend National Park saw an increase of 1.2% in 2025 from 2024, reaching over 568,000 visits.
