Basic High School's baseball team was removed from the 5A region playoffs for playing an ineligible player, according to a statement from principal Tati Hadavi. Basic baseball coach Gino DiMaria said everyone at the school was "blindsided" by the decision. The situation arose over the eligibility of a player due to grades and DiMaria claimed he was not aware of any concerns about the player's eligibility.
