The New Mexico Lobos basketball team has been making a remarkable season, winning 84-69 against Saint Joseph's in the NIT quarterfinals, sending them to the final four of the National Invitation Tournament's final four. The team, which is 26-10 and one of 14 Division I teams still playing, was introduced to the league by first-year coach Eric Olen and his staff. The Lobos' Tomislav Buljan, UNM's principle low-post threat, scored 27 points in the game against St. Joe's, contributing significantly to the team's overall success. Despite a lack of expectations, the team has made a remarkable start to the season. Olen credits his team's success to European basketball players being more fundamentally sound than their American counterparts.
