Musk accuses Altman of betraying OpenAI’s nonprofit founding mission

Tech billionaire Elon Musk is testifying in a landmark US trial against fellow OpenAI co-founder Sam Altman, accusing him of betraying the company's founding mission. The trial centres on OpenAI's founding as a nonprofit but later evolved into a for-profit venture. In the early years of the company, Musk invested about $38m between 2015 and 2017. However, he left the company in 2018 and claimed that by 2022, he was concerned that Altman was trying to "steal the charity". OpenAI’s lawyers have countered that Musk’�s lawsuit is an attempt to undermine the company for his own venture, xAI.
