Trump FCC chair: Paramount/Warner Bros. merger likely to get quick approval

The $111 billion purchase of Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) by Paramount Skydance is likely to receive approval from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Brendan Carr stated that the Paramount/WBD combination is a cleaner than the now-defunct Netflix deal. Despite the company's decision to abandon the merger, Carr noted that the merger does not raise the same issues as the previous attempt to acquire WBD. The purchase must comply with FCC foreign ownership rules due to Paramount's already being an FCC licensee.
