Brent crude oil prices held above $100 per barrel, pushing national average gasoline prices to their highest level since October 2023. This comes as Iran continues to attack oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, leading to the largest oil supply disruption in history. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by about 1.2%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq also rose by 1.3%. Oil benchmarks have risen more than 40% since the start of the war, with Brent hitting $102.27 and West Texas Intermediate crude at $94.36. National average gasoline price reached $3.72, their highest since October 2022, according to AAA. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the US has been allowing Iranian tankers to move through the strait in an effort to minimize supply disruptions. Additional strikes on a vital Iranian oil hub could further disrupt global supply and prices.
