An ancient Spanish treasure discovered in 1963, the Treasure of Villena, has been dated to the Iberian Bronze Age and is housed in Spain. The 66-item find, known as the "Treasure of Vallena," features multiple gold items and has been subject to controversy over who owns the find. However, a study in 2023 found that pieces in the treasure were made from meteorite iron, indicating a timeline that didn't make historical sense. The discovery was made after a meteorite found the nickel content from two pieces, which was found to align with the age of the gold from the treasure. This discovery could prove the first known existence of meteoritic iron used in production on the Iebian Peninsula. The collection of 66 pieces, including bowls, bracelets, bottles, and gold ornaments, is considered the most important prehistoric treasure in Europe.
