The Department of Health has closed down restaurants in New York City since March 7 due to non-food-safety violations, including violations that can't be resolved quickly. These violations range from broken light bulbs to public health hazards like vermin and failure to follow food safety protocols. Restaurants hit with these violations may face fines or lower grades, with zero to 13 points for violations totaling 28 points or more earning a 'C' for a 'A' or 'C'. These violations include food, supplies, or equipment not protected from potential source of contamination during storage, preparation, transportation, display, service or from customer’s refillable, reusable containers. The Department of Heath closed down all eateries since March 6.
