Man sentenced to life for 1996 murder of KCK woman

A Kansas man, Gary Dion Davis, has been sentenced to life in prison for the 1996 stabbing death of Pearl Davis, also known as Sameemah Mussawir. The case was unsolved for several years before being reopened by the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department's Cold Case Unit. Despite ongoing investigations, detectives retested evidence collected at the murder scene in 2023 and matched Davis' DNA.
