John Belcik, a 67-year-old former corporate finance executive, has taken on the most challenging role of his career as CEO of the International Code Council (ICC), a non-profit whose work ensures the safety of over 2 billion people in their homes, schools, and workplaces. The ICC, a membership organization whose office in southwest suburban Country Club Hills employs 80 people, publishes updated model building codes every three years, and its 65,000 members are mostly government building department staff. Belciak, a self-proclaimed “Chicago guy” who is enjoying a mission-driven role as CEO, credits his focus on helping people be better off.
