DOJ taking aim at food prices, acting AG says

The U.S. Department of Justice (Discovery) is investigating potential antitrust violations in the meat-packing industry, with Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche announcing a "historic settlement" that will help reduce the price of proteins. The DOJ is also set to go to trial against data company Agri, alleging its weekly reports on meat pricing and sales have led to anticompetitive practices in the chicken, pork, and turkey industries.
