Portsmouth-based Mercy Chefs has deployed to the Hawaiian island of Oahu amid record flooding, with over 230 people rescued and hundreds evacuated due to the flooding. The company has been providing thousands of hot meals daily for the last seven or eight days and has brought in local chefs to assist in the recovery efforts. While no deaths have been reported, homes have been destroyed and airports and hospitals have been affected. The team first established a partnership with Hawaii in 2023 after the Maui wildfires. They will train locals to continue their efforts so they can return some volunteers home in time for hurricane season.
