Republican Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst has accused Democrat Ilhan Omar of attempting to divert over $1 million from an earmark intended for a suspicious "substance abuse clinic" housed at a Somali-owned restaurant. Ernst highlighted the supposed clinic and warned that fraud could extend to earmarks requested by "members of Congress". After she raised the issue, the earmark was removed from the spending bill. Both Ernst and Utah Sen. Mike Lee have asked the Department of Justice to investigate the center.
