Alaina Nolan, a softball recruit for Columbia in New York, is closing in on the career strikeout record for St. Edward, where she is expected to lead the Green Wave to a second consecutive regional title and advance further than last year's sectional semifinal. Despite her focus on winning, Nolan insists she doesn't aim for a record but focuses on winning. She threw a two-hitter with nine strikeouts in St.Edward's 16-0 Chicagoland Christian Conference win over Wheaton Academy. Nolan's nine strikeouts on Wednesday boosted her career total to 771, just 10 behind program's record holder Lindsay Zdroik.
