Severe weather is expected to occur in Metro Detroit on Thursday afternoon and evening, with some risks of hail and tornadoes. The primary window for strong storms begins at 7 p.m. and most of the storm should be moved out of the SE Michigan area by 9 p.am. The risk for tornadoes is higher in the southern communities of Metro Detroit, but isolated strong tornadoes (EF2 or greater) are not out of sight across most of Southeast Michigan. Hail could form up to 2 inches, but conditions are favorable for large hail, even in the marginal risk area. The wind threat is more downstream of the area, so our area gets more hail and Ohio gets more of the wind threat.
