Ben McCollum, the coach of Iowa basketball, is writing a fairy tale for the team that has not achieved success in the sport. Since the NCAA tournament expanded to 64 teams in 1985, Iowa has reached the Sweet 16 22 times and hasn't reached the Elite Eight since the 1987 campaign. This victory could potentially be the catalyst for Final Four dreams for the Hawkeyes, despite a 2-7 mark to close the regular season or a third-round exit in the Big Ten tournament. McCollom, who has previously coached at D-II school IUP and other universities, is known for his successful transfer to Iowa.
