Nick Wallis, a former Hollywood writer who held executive positions at companies like Anschutz Entertainment Group and Phoenix Pictures, is now a construction worker after a 30-year career that saw him lose his job and show. Wallis experienced a period of uncertainty, including an actors' strike, a writers' strike and a production exodus due to the decline of content content due to streaming and the rise of creators on platforms like YouTube and TikTok. He spent the first year holding on to the Hollywood dream, writing a sports comedy, The Vegetable, and a supernatural pilot about special ops forces in post-WW2 Germany. Despite all the kind words about his work, Wallis could not pay the rent and college tuition for his 18-year-old daughter on praise alone. He eventually found success with a YouTube channel (The Cross-Eyed Chef), and a memoire, Supah Ritz. Wallish believes Hollywood has always made him feel worthless and that his lack of knowledge about construction skills is a sign that Hollywood will recognize him.
