A pair of thieves have been caught on camera stealing a water heater from a residence in Ibaraki Prefectural Police in a 4-minute midnight heist from a home in Kashima City, Ibarak, in IBaraki Prefecture. The thieves were seen emerging from a vehicle with a metal bar-like object attached to a wall-mounted water heater, propping it loose from the ground and severing its hanging cables. Despite the dangerous impact of the falling unit and the dangerous electrical sparks, the perpetrators were undeterred by the hazard. The homeowner estimates the financial damage at around 100,000 yen and expressed anger over the forceful theft.
