A scam targeting a family in Central Florida, using artificial intelligence to convince them to pay for a fake emergency. Lytton Cosens and his 11-year-old beagle mix, Archer, were searching for the missing dog for several days before receiving a call from someone claiming to have found him and needing surgery. The scam was detected when the person demanded over $2,700 in CVS gift cards, which led to a discovery of pattern differences in Archer's fur and a X-ray dated back to 2022. The family is now aware of the dangers of AI and is thankful Archer is home.
