Students at American Heritage high school in South Florida were warned about the dangers of drunk driving ahead of prom night. Local organizations, first responders, and individuals impacted by drunk driving presented an emotional assembly at the school. One of the speakers was Alba Alonso, who was struck by a drunk driver while outside of her car and pinned between two vehicles, leading to first responders having to amputate her leg at the scene. The message was clear that one decision can significantly impact the lives of individuals, not just individuals, but also their friends and family.
