The Signia by Hilton hotel in downtown San Jose may be sold to BrightSpire Capital in 2026, after the lender seized it through a foreclosure. The financial firm, which owns the hotel, hopes to harvest the benefits of visits to the region from major sports events such as the Super Bowl and the FIFA World Cup, respectively. The hotel tower at 170 South Market St. in San Jose was foreclosed in a transaction that placed an $80 million value on the property, 41% less than Brightspire provided. BrightSpite plans to revamp the hotel this year before its potential sale.
