The St. Louis Cardinals defeated the New York Mets 3-0 in the middle game of a three-game series. The Cardinals' starting pitcher, Andre Pallante, and a quartet of relievers combined on a three hit shutout. This was the first win for Pallante since July 28 and the first scoreless effort for him. The Mets were blanked for the first time since their 4-0 loss to the Miami Marlins last September. Ivan Herrera and Ramon Urias scored for the Cardinals, marking their first shutout since Sept. 16.
