GORDAN CHANG: China Is About To Lose Its Cuban Military Bases

China and Cuba are reportedly negotiating to establish a new joint military training facility on the island, raising concerns in Washington that it could lead to the stationing of Chinese troops and intelligence operations just 100 miles off Florida’s coast. This comes after the U.S. took control of Venezuela’�s national oil company, PDVSA, and stopped the flow of Venezuelan oil to the Cuban regime. The Trump administration also imposed a de facto oil embargo on Havana. This has led to Cuba almost running out of energy and the collapse of the Cuban grid. Declassified intelligence revealed that Chinese signals-intelligence collection facilities have been operating in Cuba since at least 2019. President Donald Trump acted before the Chinese could base missiles in Cuba.
