Tornado strikes Clinton, shattering ‘golden valley’ myth

A tornado in Clinton, central Missouri, destroyed a belief that the town was protected from tornadoes. The tornado touched down at 5:55 p.m. and traveled northeast through Clinton, about 80 miles southeast of Kansas City. It damaged trees and structures but resulted in no injuries. Officials and residents believe the damage could have been significantly worse. The incident was seen as a warning that nature is unpredictable and anything can happen at any point.
