Charlotte is still exploding in growth

Charlotte is still one of the fastest-growing places in the US, despite a decrease in immigration. The Charlotte-Concord-Gastonia metro added 54,122 people between July 2024 and 2025, outpacing other metros such as Houston, Dallas, Atlanta and Phoenix. The population reached 2.9 million as of July 2025, up from 2.6 million in 2020. However, this growth has been delayed due to a surge in immigration enforcement activity in Charlotte. The U.S. overall grew by 0.5% between 2024-25, down from 1% over the previous period.
