Dominion Energy's Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project, which will be the US's largest wind farm when it is completed, has produced its first power. The 2.6-gigawatt (GW) project is currently about 70% complete, with 176 monopiles installed. Two Siemens Gamesa 14 MW wind turbines have been installed and power is currently being generated from one of them. The project is scheduled to finish in early 2027. The cost of the project has risen significantly due to tariffs and the Department of the Interior's decision to halt offshore work on December 22. On January 16, a federal judge granted Dominion Energy's request for a preliminary injunction allowing construction to resume.
