The 98th Academy Awards took place, with several notable moments including a surprise win for Timothée Chalamet and "Marty Supreme" not receiving any statues. The biggest award was for "One Battle After Another" which won six over "Sinners" despite the latter's historic number of nominations. Autumn Durald Arkapaw, the first woman and first woman of color to win best cinematography for her work on “Sinners”, made history as a record-breaking winner. The live action short film category saw a tie between "The Singers" and "Two People Exchanging Saliva," marking only the seventh tie in Oscar history. The three biggest acting snubs were introduced by their casting directors during this segment.
