The cause of death for the 45-foot Sei whale found on a Queens beach has been revealed. The animal autopsy revealed that the whale likely died from a boat strike. The whale was spotted 15 miles off the shore of Long Island before drifting onto the beach. Each year, an estimated 20,000 whales are killed by vessel strikes.
