Warm and dry February sees only half of average rainfall
Published on March 2, 2026.
A warm and dry February saw only two days of rainfall, less than half the normal average rainfall. The warmest day of the month was February 20, when a high of 76 degrees was recorded, a record previously set in 1981. The average February rainfall in Mountain Home was approximately 3.2 inches, but only 1.19 inches was recorded at KTLO. The dry conditions led to several area counties to implement burn bans and the Arkansas Forestry Division placed much of North Central Arkansas in the high wildfire danger category.
