Tesla, Google, and Carrier are among the founding members of a new industry coalition called Utilize, which aims to save $100 billion over the next decade by unlocking idle US power grid capacity. The coalition, which also includes Renew Home, Sparkfund, SPAN, and Verrus, argues that the US electric grid operates at only 53% of its total capacity. This could save consumers over $100B over a decade. The goal is to improve grid efficiency and reduce costs while enhancing grid reliability. The collaboration aligns with Tesla’s energy division, which saw energy storage revenues rise to $12.7 billion in 2025, and Google’s AI data center buildout drive demand. Utilify plans to release independent research from The Brattle Group to assess potential savings exceeding $100bn over ten years.
