DOJ wants charges dismissed against ex-officers in Breonna Taylor case

The Department of Justice has asked a federal judge to dismiss charges against former officers Joshua Jaynes and Kyle Meany related to the death of Breonna Taylor, a Black woman who was shot and killed by Louisville police officers in 2020. The DOJ originally charged the officers with excessive force, false information, and attempted to cover up their wrongdoing. The officers were fired from their positions following the accusations. The NAACP criticized the DOJ's decision, stating it was disrespectful to Taylor's memory and undermines public trust in the justice system.
