Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education unanimously approves superintendent’s new budget proposal

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education unanimously approved the superintendent's second budget proposal, following an 8-1 rejection of Dr. Crystal Hill's $2.1 billion budget two weeks ago. The board's approval comes after North Carolina lawmakers agreed to a framework of the state's budget including a pay raise for teachers. The revised budget includes an 8% increase in teacher pay and allocation of three positions to higher-need schools. North Carolina Speaker of the House Destin Hall stated that this budget was an unprecedented one for education in the state.
