British rock star Billy Idol, known for his contributions to the MTV-driven "Second British Invasion" in the '80s, is now 70 and a grandfather. His career, which spans his 20th year, continues to thrive despite being a decade old and a half-century grandfather. He was shortlisted for the best original song Oscar last year for "Dying to Live," a ballad he wrote with past Oscar nominee J. Ralph, which plays over Jonas Akerlund's documentary about his life. The documentary, "Billy Idol Should Be Dead," premiered at the Tribeca Festival in 2025 and will be released in select theaters in 2026. Idol also received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2023 and has been nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
