South Carolina lawmaker, Rep. Mark Smith, has proposed temporarily suspending the state's gas tax in an effort to help consumers' wallets as gas prices rise rapidly across the U.S. Smith plans to file a bill proposing the temporary suspension of the 28-cent gas tax for a defined 30-day period. The current average price for a gallon of gas in South Carolina is $3.68.
