The White House is set to host a Celebration of Agriculture event to celebrate the success of the agricultural sector, which is struggling with rising energy costs and trade disputes. The Agriculture Department predicts that government payments will increase by 45% this year to $44.3 billion, roughly 28 cents of every dollar in U.S. net farm income. The administration is also expected to announce a significant increase in ethanol blending requirements for oil companies. This is a longstanding giveaway to Big Ag at the expense of motorists. Agriculture has suffered badly under President Donald Trump, with the war against Iran and tariffs targeting farmers. The cost of transporting corn and soybeans to market also increases due to rising oil prices and shortages. There is still no final agreement on a new Farm Bill.
