When aging in place may stop making sense

Elder law attorney Harry Margolis has suggested that age 75 is often an ideal time for retirees to reassess their living situation before a health or financial crisis forces a decision. He suggests that while 90% of Americans, according to AARP, want to remain in their homes as they age, it may not be the best solution for those who are no longer mobile due to mobility, caregiving, home maintenance, and family support. Factors such as home health aides' distance reach and transportation issues could pose challenges. Margolis also suggests that a move closer to family, services, or care options may improve quality of life. The author suggests that at age 75, you are still able to make a move and are mentally competent and financially competent.
