The protests against the Phil Berger campaign in the NC Senate District 26 Republican Primary have moved forward, despite a machine recount showing Sam Page still leads over Phil Berger in the race. The Rockingham County Board of Elections is holding a preliminary hearing on protests filed by the Berger campaign, which have been filed by a single voter who moved, but her new voter registration was processed incorrectly. The Berger campaign also filed a protest in Guilford County involving eight voters who were given the wrong ballot. The final protest involved three unaffiliated voters who requested a Democratic ballot but then requested a Republican ballot halfway through voting. The full evidentiary hearings for these protests will take place on Friday, March 27 at 2 p.m. In Rockingham and Guilfords, both boards of elections voted to proceed with full evidentiaries hearings. The chairman of the Rockingham county Board of elections, Don Powell, stated that while the protests involve only 13 votes, they have no legal remedies for both campaigns, they are satisfied with the election results.
