Cleveland man, William McKissack, has settled a civil rights lawsuit against Westlake police for $127,000. McKissacks claimed that an officer slammed him head-first to the ground during a traffic stop and used excessive force. The lawsuit was closed last week after Westlake city officials agreed to the settlement. Westlake Law Director Michael Maloney stated that officers found a gun in McKissak's car during the stop and that the officer only took McKissock down because he started to run. The case has since been sealed from public viewing.
