Concerns about pet vaccine safety are increasing among pet owners, despite the benefits of the vaccine. About 1 in 6 parents in the U.S. has skipped or delayed vaccinating their children against diseases such as the flu. A recent study found that over half of dog owners questioned whether vaccines for rabies were safe, effective, or useful. However, Dr. Ariana Pereira, associate veterinarian at 4 Paws Animal Clinic in Florida, stated that the rabies vaccine can save pets and human lives. While many owners are concerned about side effects, research shows they are extremely rare.
