A 13-year-old leukemia survivor, Alexander Alvarez, was granted a wish to become a trauma surgeon for National Doctors Day at Hackensack University Medical Center in New Jersey. He was given hands-on experience and learned about emergency and operating room procedures at the hospital. The event also included a white coat ceremony and a simulation of a simulated trauma response. The wish was part of a partnership between Make-A-Wish New Jersey and Hackensak Meridian Health.
