A state commission investigating the Chicago-area immigration crackdown has sent its findings to law enforcement, with some members and Gov. JB Pritzker pushing for investigations into federal agents involved in violent episodes during the notorious Operation Midway Blitz raids. The commission, which was tasked by the Illinois Accountability Commission last fall, has no direct law enforcement power and cannot issue subpoenas, file charges or compel anyone to act. Some advocates have expressed disappointment at a lack of accountability for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol agents who repeatedly used force against immigrants, U.K. citizens, protesters, journalists and residents. The final report of the commission's findings was released by the Cook County state's attorney's office, which said it looked forward to reviewing it.
