After Anthropic released Claude Code’s 2.1.88 update, users discovered a package containing a source map file containing its TypeScript codebase containing more than 512,000 lines. The leak also revealed a Tamagotchi-style pet and an always-on background agent. Despite an issue being resolved, users have been able to copy the code to a repository on GitHub, which has amassed over 50,000 copies. The long-term impact of the leak could be seen as a call for Anthropic to invest more in processes and tools for better operational maturity.
