The cost of auto insurance in Nevada has increased by almost 60% in the past two years, largely due to higher costs for vehicles and repairs, safety equipment, and increased litigation costs. The American Tort Reform Association estimates that the typical American costs $1,666 annually in litigation, or more than $6,600 annually for a family of four, is a hidden tax. Some lawsuits are filed without intention of going to court and are often used as a tool to harass businesses and insurance companies into settling the case quickly to avoid litigation.
