UNC to hire NBA champion coach to lead Tar Heels basketball team, per report

The University of North Carolina is planning to hire Michael Malone, an NBA champion, to head its men's basketball program. Malone, who spent 12 seasons as head coach, won the 2023 NBA Finals with the Denver Nuggets. He will take over after a disastrous collapse in the first round of this year's NCAA tournament led to the dismissal of coach Hubert Davis.
