Box Office Global: 'Super Mario Galaxy' Takes Franchise to $2B, 'Mummy' $34M WW

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and The Mummy, both films have achieved an $83.2M global weekend, bringing their global running cume to $747.4M. The franchise has now surpassed $2 billion, becoming the 10th most successful animated feature film series of all-time. The film's sole opening was in Israel, with a No. 1 bow of $700K, in line with Zootopia, Toy Story 4, and Incredibles 2. New Line's Lee Cronin’s "The Mummy" with a $22M net production is expected to be profitable after a $34M global start with $20.5M abroad in 77 markets/14K screens and $13.5m stateside. The sequel to "Super Mario Galaxy" is set to open in Japan.
