The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) America Act is set to go to the Senate floor for a procedural vote, setting up a potential showdown between President Trump and Senate Majority Leader John Thune. The bill, which would require proof of citizenship to register to vote in elections and requires an ID to cast a ballot, requires some Democratic support to overcome a filibuster. However, no member of the minority party is expected to back it. Thune has declined to use a "talking filibuster" to delay the bill, a tactic that would force Democrats to speak continuously on the Senate's floor to delay it. The Senate overwhelmingly passed the bill last week. The House will begin considering a comprehensive housing package, the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, which combines provisions from the Senate and the Housing Act.
