Amtrak's new 125-mph Airo trains are set to be introduced later in the year, with the first of 83 new trains set to replace cars that have aged over the 50 years in service. The new Airo fleet features a dual-power system that allows for a switch between electric and diesel, reducing downtime for passengers out of New York City’s Moynihan Train Hall. The trains are more fuel efficient and produce 90% less particulate emissions while running on diesel compared to the older trains. Amenities on the new trains include modern comfort seating, spacious restaurants, a contemporary food service experience, and more. The fleet was debuted at a preview event out west.
