The New York Yankees have decided not to alter their schedule due to the expected cold weather in the city and other parts of the country. An internal club meeting determined that the team did not feel the cold was particularly dangerous for fans. The team's series-opener against the Athletics was set to begin at 7:05 p.m. with the first-pitch temperature expected to be about 42 degrees. While the Yankees decided to stand pat, other teams, including the Mets, also changed their schedules. The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, the Yankees' Triple-A affiliate, postponed their home opener to Wednesday night due to forecasted cold temperatures and low wind chills.
